SPAO Intervention at the 12th Civil Society Convention – Cyprus Parliament, 4 November 2026
On 4 November 2026, the Social Policy and Action Organization (SPAO) participated in the 12th Civil Society Convention at the House of Representatives of Cyprus. SPAO was represented by its Executive and Scientific Director, who presented four key policy priorities and institutional recommendations.
Due to the two-minute speaking time allocated, only a brief overview of the proposals could be delivered. SPAO therefore publishes the full text of its intended intervention, outlining its recommendations concerning:
Recognition and validation of non-formal and informal learning and institutional recognition of the Youth Worker professional standard.
Institutional recognition and integration of youth work activities into public policies, particularly primary violence prevention.
Establishment of community-based mechanisms for the primary prevention of violence and crime, with meaningful youth participation.
Institutionalisation of public consultation and modernisation of the framework for cooperation between public authorities and civil society organisations.
The full intervention, available in Greek in the attached PDF, presents SPAO’s proposals for strengthening participatory governance, social inclusion, institutional cooperation and evidence-informed public policies.
